Coinciding with the joint statement of 5 UN rapporteurs clearly holding Maliki’s government responsible for the abduction of seven Ashraf residents, the Alfagr Elgadeed Center for Studies and Human Rights in Egypt, gathered the signatures of 250,000 various dignitaries and people from all walks of life in 18 Arab countries, expressing their solidarity with the hunger strikers in Camp Liberty and 8 other countries across the globe, and calling for the release of the hostages and security provided for Camp Liberty residents.
The 250,000 signatories of this statement from Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Libya, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Sudan, Iraq, Kuwait, Morocco, Yemen, Tunisia, Oman, Qatar, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, called on the UN and US President to take urgent action to impel the Iraqi government to release the hostages immediately.
