Huge gathering of Iranian expatriates in Paris calls for regime change in Tehran

The annual Iranian opposition rally held each year in Paris was staged in the renowned Le Bourget Hall with a strong call voicing a rising demand for regime change in Iran. Desire is growing to establish freedom, democracy and human rights in Iran after 37 years of atrocious rule under the mullahs’ regime. This massive gathering of Iranian dissidents flocking into Paris from across the globe was held as the international community marks one year into the highly flawed nuclear deal with Iran. This huge rally acted as a platform to underscore U.S. and international policy in the region needs a necessary new approach.

The 3-year report card of the so-called moderate Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is very gloom. The world is beginning to recognize the empty nature of his promises in various political, economic and social aspects of everyday life in Iran. Over 2,400 people have been sent to the gallows under Rouhani’s tenure alone. The rate of executions witnessed in Iran during Rouhani’s watch has been unprecedented since the late 1980s. Despite the “landmark” nuclear accord, Iran continues to also raise concerns with its meddling across the Middle East.

The world is also coming to realize how Tehran’s mullahs and Daesh (the Arabic acronym for the self-proclaimed Islamic State, or ISIS, ISIL) read from one script. These two phenomenon follow a parallel modus operandi in regard to their practice of barbarity and savagery. To this end, as long as Iran continues to occupy Syria, Iraq and Yemen, the international community is doomed to fail in its effort to tackle and defeat Daesh.

A wide variety of nations represented in the Paris gathering united in colors to show their universal support and solidarity for the cause of freedom in Iran and to find a solution for the mullahs’ disastrous regime.

“I have repeatedly said during all these years that the regime of Iran should be overthrown immediately… The only way to get rid of this regime is to support the legitimate resistance movement of Iran and this should be the declared policy of the U.S. government and its friends to follow,” said John Bolton, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

The participation of delegates from Syria in this rally is described to have major implications for the region’s future. Nations in this corner of the globe have realized more than ever before the lethal results of the Iranian regime’s meddling on their soil. Iran is known as the main supporter of Levant dictator Bashar Assad, lethal militia groups in Iraq and the Houthis in Yemen. Iran’s meddling in the region remains a major concern for U.S. allies in the Middle East.

“The Istanbul summit condemned both the Iranian regime and the Lebanese Hezbollah due to their interferences in Arabic countries, especially the attack that took place in Tehran and Mashhad against Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic missions. Your fight and struggle against the Iranian regime will triumph soon and this is a matter of when, not if,” Prince Turki al-Faisal of Saudi Arabia said addressing the crowd. “I want regime change, too. We in the Islamic World will support you from the depth of our hearts.”

The Paris rally invited the international community and the future U.S. president to recognize the Iranian people’s right to seek regime change.

“We offer a solution that is the only effective option, and the most indispensable and attainable solution: the right of the Iranian people to overthrow the religious dictatorship and attain freedom and democracy must be recognized,” said Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajavi in her keynote speech at the Paris rally.

Today’s world will ultimately realize the necessity to rally behind the Iranian democratic opposition in the drive to establish in Iran a country without the mullahs. A country where the practice of execution is completely abolished, human rights are respected for people from all walks of life and neighboring nations are treated as brothers. This is a platform that can be reckoned with and is in line with the values of today’s free world in the 21st century. The international community has the opportunity to set aside the failed appeasement policy vis-à-vis Iran, and strongly support the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom and democracy in their country.
